Meet Buzzy!
This is a mascot I designed for Hive, a digital marketing agency. The process kicked off with some moodboards to get the feel of what the client's approach was. In this moodboard, I sought to represent a young, urban and vibrant style to represent Buzzy. I felt it was important to communicate that Buzzy was hip and trendy and followed a quirky, out of the box mentality, all of which are characteristic of the marketing industry.
Then, I worked on a rough sketch to get a quick feel of what the character could look like.
The client really loved this! So I immediately started turning that rough sketch into a vector artwork to better understand the 3D approach we'd use. After the first sketch, we realized some of the proportions were off and that there was more we could do to bring this character to life, so we modified the expression a little bit and added some cool glasses.
Then it was time for 3D! I hopped into C4D and started working on some pre-visualizations I could
show the client so we could adjust on the fly.
After we got him right, all we needed was to pose him, light him, and we were done!
