Luckee Charms

A character design project revolving around creating lucky charms.

Luckee Charms was a collaborative effort revolving around creating modern symbols for luck. We created a series of characters that personified what we considered the three most important building blocks for a placid life: Good Health, True Love, and Honest Wealth. We began by sketching out some ideas and working out what we wanted to transmit.

Then, we refined these sketches into vector artwork to make the modelling process easier. These geometric shapes served to visualize the end result more clearly, and we sketched over those in order to achieve more detail.

Then, we began to model it in Cinema 4d, and rendering in Redshift using plasticky materials.

As with any process, we definitely messed up time and time again, but this only made the results more satisfying after we finally achieved what we wanted to.

We even wrote some lore to accompany this mystical magical new world we created:

When luck and good fortune seem to all but disappear in the world, some humans gain the curious power to invoke them. The Flower of Life has been called upon to gain corporeal form in the world of the living. And in this bleak, dismal world, it has begun to glow.
